The Dirty Dozen and Clean 15

Have you heard about the dirty dozen? These fruits and veggies are the most pesticide ridden out of 53 fruits/veggies they tested.

Samples were washed and peeled before testing and these STILL tested high!

The Dirty Dozen:
1. Apples
2. Celery
3. Strawberries
4. Peaches
5. Spinach
6. Nectarines
7. Grapes
8. Bell Peppers
9. Potatoes
10. Blueberries
11. Lettuce
12. Kale/Collards

Do you know what this means? The most common foods people buy from the grocery store (some people not even washing or peeling)are so pesticide ridden they sent out this study. That scares me. This is even more reason to grow your own, or buy local organic!

Now on the other hand you have the cleanest foods. The Clean 15 that showed little to no pesticide left on eaten product.

The Clean 15:
1. Onions
2. Sweet corn
3. Pineapples
4. Avocado
5. Asparagus
6. Sweet peas
7. Mangoes
8. Eggplant
9. Cantaloupe – domestic
10. Kiwi
11. Cabbage
12. Watermelon
13. Sweet potatoes
14. Grapefruit
15. Mushrooms
