April Local Green Events:

USF Botanical Gardens Spring Festival

Place: USF Botanical Garden... 12210 USF Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612

Dates: April 14th and April 15th

Time: Saturday 10am - 4pm, Sunday 10am - 3pm

Right from their event page: 80 or so vendors sell all kinds of great plants for Florida -- from gingers to bromeliads to herbs. It's all in the gardens, which is great for seeing what grows well here in various conditions, from boggy to full-sand, full-sun. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and older. Free parking



EcoFest 2012

Place: 16215 Hanna Road lutz, FL 33549

Date: April 14th

Time: 9am - 3pm

Right from their event page: EcoFest 2012 is a community event organized by Learning Gate Community School to celebrate the many businesses, organizations, and individuals in the Tampa Bay area dedicated to the principles of sustainability – Ecology, Equity and Economy. Admission to the event is free.
There will be live music, workshops, demonstrations, informational booths, green living products and services. Some local artists, green businesses, environmental organizations, alternative health practitioners, renewable energy specialists, organic farms and gardens with produce.



The St. Pete Green Thumb Festival:

Place: Walter Fuller Recreation Park ~ 7891 26th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710

Dates: April 28th and 29th

Time: 9-4 on Saturday, 9-3 on Sunday

Right from the website: The Green Thumb Festival features environmental and horticultural exhibits, vendors (with every kind of plant imaginable), Garden Club of St. Petersburg presents the Garden Club of St. Petersburg Flower Show, a grow and share program, a diagnostic clinic (bring soil and water samples), a recycling rally, free mulch, plant auction, more than 2,000 trees for sale for $3, free Butterfly plants (500 each day), tool sharpening booth, entertainment, children's programs, other environmental programs and exhibits, and a food court! Mark your calendar so you don't miss this annual event: April 28 and 29, 2012.



Green After Dark:

Place: 8701 Gunn Hwy, Odessa, FL 33556

Date: April 28th

Time: 5pm - 9pm

A delightful event that hosts live music and local vendors selling honey, organic produce, and other green goodies.

  3. Brittany-I would really like to visit you and (esp. selfishly)if you do consultations, have you visit me. I think we have a lot in common philosophically- you are just advanced in the 'doing' part. That being said, I have some strengths- one being I hate waste but love giving stuff away and I have a BUNCH of usable wood, that's actually attractive, screws, bolts, unknown metal parts that are interesting and seem to be still utilitarian , and access to more FREE. I want to continue evolving my yard to edibles and natives with hugelculture and graywater, but spend too much time fretting about all the leaf blowers- (and they want to limit chickens!) I am a supremely successful and committed composter, and would love to do more. please call or write 813-541-2137
